During the last decades, the number of protected areas has been constantly increasing around the world. This trend is still continuing. As a consequence, the international exchange and knowledge transfer beyond cultural boundaries gains increasingly in importance.
By means of detailed analyses in four protected areas, „Knowledge, parks and cultures“ provides an insight into the similarities and cultural differences of protected area management bodies in Austria and Nepal, and follows the question how relevant knowledge can be exchanged across different cultures. The results are supposed to contribute to the global discussion on joint educational structures and exchange of knowledge in the field of protected area management.
Furthermore, the approaches of addressing cultural issues in a global exchange of knowledge may be of interest for all persons or organizations being active in an international working environment.
In den letzten Jahrzehnten nahm die Anzahl der Schutzgebiete weltweit rasant zu. Dieser Trend hält weiterhin an. Damit gewinnen die internationale Vernetzung und der Wissensaustausch über Kulturgrenzen hinweg zunehmend an Bedeutung.
Anhand einer detaillierten Analyse von vier Schutzgebieten veranschaulicht „Knowledge, parks and cultures“ Gemeinsamkeiten und kulturelle Unterschiede im Schutzgebietsmanagement in Österreich und Nepal und befasst sich mit der Frage, wie relevantes Wissen transkulturell ausgetauscht werden kann. Das Buch versteht sich als Beitrag zur globalen Diskussion rund um standardisierte Ausbildungsstrukturen und den Wissensaustausch zu Schutzgebietsthemen.
Die vorgestellten Ansätze zur Berücksichtigung der kulturellen Komponenten im globalen Wissensaustausch können darüber hinaus für alle in einem internationalen Umfeld tätigen Personen und Organisationen von Interesse sein.
